COTENTIN

Source: orcadiving.net

In September 1963, this deep-sea tug of the French navy, already decommissioned, was traveling under tow from an Algerian port to a French midday port to be scrapped. The force of the north wind broke the cable that joined it to the ship that was towing it, drifting until it found the coast of L'Escala where it ran aground. She later she was dynamited. Today, close to Mateua Island, although its remains are a scattering of iron on a rocky bottom and fine sand where the structure of the ship as such is not to be found, the bow, part of the machine, and a piece of the stern with the settlement of the rudder and the propeller shaft. There is diverse fauna such as nudibranchs, octopuses, castanets, breams, etc. The remains remain shallow (6-12m), which makes the dive easy, ideal for beginners.
